How to make Palusami

  1. Peel and chop 500 g of taro into small pieces about 1 cm each for even cooking.
  2. Place the chopped taro in a pot and boil it in water over medium heat until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. Drain the taro once tender then mash it in a bowl until smooth and creamy in texture.
  4. In the bowl, mix the mashed taro with 400 ml of coconut milk, 1 chopped onion, 1 tsp of salt, and 1/1 tsp of pepper.
  5. Lay out banana leaves on a flat surface and cut them into squares suitable for folding.
  6. Place a generous spoonful of the taro mixture in the center of each banana leaf square and fold it securely.
  7. Steam the wrapped parcels over boiling water for about 60 minutes until heated through and fragrant.
  8. Remove the parcels from the steamer, serve hot, and enjoy the rich flavors of Palusami.
