Ingredients
- 1000 g chicken
- 300 g onion
- 4 garlic
- 30 g ginger
- 3 tbsp berbere spice
- 100 g tomato paste
- 500 ml water
- 4 hard-boiled eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 60 ml oil

- Chop 2 onions, 3 garlic cloves, and 1 tablespoon of ginger before cooking.
- In a large pot, heat 3 tablespoons of oil over medium heat for 1 minute.
- Sauté the chopped onions for about 10 minutes, until they turn golden brown, stirring occasionally.
- Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the pot, cooking for 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in 2 tablespoons of berbere spice and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, cooking for 3-4 minutes while stirring.
- Add 1 kg of chicken pieces and 500 ml of water, bringing to a simmer over medium heat.
- Cover the pot and cook for about 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until the chicken is tender.
- Season with 1 teaspoon of salt and add 4 hard-boiled eggs, cooking for another 10 minutes until the flavors meld.
- Serve the doro wat hot with injera or rice, garnishing as desired.
