Ingredients
- 500 g sauerkraut
- 400 g potatoes
- 300 g smoked pork
- 300 g pork ribs
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic
- 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 water
How to make Jota
- In a large pot over medium heat, sauté 1 chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves in 2 tablespoons of oil until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add 300 g of smoked pork and 300 g of pork ribs to the pot. Cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
- Stir in 500 g of sauerkraut, 400 g of diced potatoes, 2 bay leaves, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix well.
- Pour in 1 liter of water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for 1.5 hours, covered.
- After cooking, remove the bay leaves and serve the stew hot, ensuring to garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
