  1. In a large pot, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until hot.
  2. Sear 1 kg of flank steak in the pot until browned on all sides, about 10 minutes.

  6. Stir everything to combine well and bring to a simmer.
  7. Cover the pot and simmer on low heat for 1.5 hours until the meat is tender.
  8. Use two forks to shred the meat in the pot and mix it back into the sauce.
  9. Serve the Ropa Vieja hot with rice on the side.
