Savory Mongolian meat-filled dumplings, a delight!
Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 200 ml water
- 300 g ground beef
- 1 onion
- 2 garlic
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 50 ml vegetable oil
How to make Khuushuur
- In a medium bowl, combine 500 g of all-purpose flour with 200 ml of water to form a dough.
- Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it's elastic and smooth.
- Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Finely chop 1 onion and 2 cloves of garlic to use in the filling mixture.
- In a bowl, mix the chopped onion, garlic, and 300 g of ground beef thoroughly.
- Season the mixture with 1 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp of black pepper, mixing until evenly seasoned.
- Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface until thin, about 2 mm thick.
- Cut into 10 cm circles using a sharp knife or round cutter.
- Place 1 tbsp of the beef mixture in the center of each dough circle.
- Heat 50 ml of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add the dumplings to the pan and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Transfer the fried dumplings to a plate and serve hot with dipping sauce.
