Ingredients
- 250 g wheat
- 500 g chicken
- 1500 ml water
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 50 g ghee
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cardamom
How to make Harees
- Soak 250 g of wheat in water for at least 4 hours until softened.
- In a large pot, combine 1 kg of chicken, 3 liters of water, and 1 tablespoon of salt; bring to a boil over high heat.
- Once boiling, add the soaked wheat to the pot, reduce heat to low, and let it simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Continue stirring occasionally until the wheat is soft and mushy, about 15 minutes before finishing.
- Add 50 g of ghee, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon of cardamom; stir well to combine.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional ghee if desired, in a bowl.
