How to make Knafeh

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) to prepare for baking the knafeh.
  2. Melt 100 g of unsalted butter in a saucepan over low heat.
  3. In a large bowl, mix 100 g of kataifi dough with the melted butter until well coated.
  4. Spread half of the kataifi mixture into a greased baking dish, pressing it down lightly.
  5. In another bowl, combine 250 g of ricotta cheese and 250 g of mozzarella cheese until smooth.
  6. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the kataifi layer in the baking dish.
  7. Cover the cheese with the remaining kataifi mixture, lightly pressing it down again.
  8. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  9. In a saucepan, combine 250 ml of water and 200 g of sugar, bringing it to a boil for the syrup.
  10. Once boiling, stir in 1 tablespoon of rose water and remove the pan from heat.
  11. After the knafeh is baked, pour the hot syrup over it while still hot.
  12. Garnish with 50 g of crushed pistachios before serving.
