How to make Goulash

  1. Cut 1 kg of beef chuck into 2-inch cubes and season with 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.
  2. Chop 1 onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 red bell pepper, 1 carrot, and 1 potato, set aside for cooking.
  3. In a large pot over medium heat, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic for about 5 minutes until translucent.
  4. Add the beef cubes to the pot and brown them on all sides for about 8 minutes, stirring frequently.
  5. Sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of paprika, mixing well with the beef and sauté for 1 additional minute.
  6. Add the chopped red bell pepper, carrot, and potato to the pot along with 1 liter of beef broth.
  7. Bring to a simmer, then add 2 bay leaves, cover the pot, and cook for 1.5 hours until the beef is tender.
  8. Remove from heat, discard bay leaves, and let the stew rest for a few minutes before serving.
  9. Serve the goulash hot, garnished with freshly chopped parsley if desired.
