How to make Fufu

  1. Peel 300 g of cassava and 3 ripe plantains, then chop them into evenly-sized chunks, about 2 inches each.
  2. In a large pot, boil the cassava and plantain chunks in salted water for about 20 minutes until tender and easily pierced with a fork.
  3. Once softened, drain the water from the pot and transfer the cassava and plantain chunks to a mixing bowl.
  4. Mash the cassava and plantains together using a potato masher until they achieve a smooth and consistent texture, free of lumps.
  5. Knead the mixture by hand for about 5 minutes to create a stretchy consistency, smooth and elastic to the touch.
  6. Form the fufu into balls or shape it into a mound, then place it neatly in a bowl for serving.
