Saloona recipe
A flavorful Qatari stew that warms the soul.
Ingredients
- 500 g chicken
- 200 g onion
- 300 g tomato
- 150 g carrot
- 200 g potato
- 4 cloves
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp coriander
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 800 ml water
How to make Saloona
- Chop 1 onion, 1 tomato, 1 carrot, and 1 potato into small pieces before starting.
- In a large pot, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic until golden brown, about 5 minutes.
- Add 1 kg of chicken pieces to the pot, browning them on all sides for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the chopped vegetables, along with 1 teaspoon of cumin, 1 teaspoon of coriander, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper; mix well.
- Pour in 4 cups of water and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let it simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let cool slightly before serving.
- Serve hot with rice or bread, placing the chicken and vegetables in a bowl.
