Ingredients
- 300 g rice
- 1 onion
- 2 tomatoes
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 carrot
- 1 green bell pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 600 ml water
How to make Nigerien rice
- Rinse 300 g of rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Chop 1 onion, 1 tomato, 1 carrot, and 1 green bell pepper into small pieces.
- In a pot, heat 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chopped tomato, carrot, and bell pepper to the pot.
- Cook for another 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in the rinsed rice and mix well with the vegetables.
- Pour in 600 ml of water and add 1 teaspoon of salt; bring to a boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes until the rice is tender.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
